Oklahoma Op-Ed Calls on Governor to Sign Bills

Fri, May 22 2009 by Staff

In an op-ed in today’s Daily Oklahoman—the state’s largest newspaper—Oklahomans for Responsible Government Executive Director Brian Downs calls on Governor Brad Henry to sign two bills aimed at opening up the state’s initiative process. Downs notes that “This flurry of legislative activity in support of citizen-controlled government is a welcome relief.”

Another group, Oklahomans for Initiative Rights, has been touring the state with an 18-foot float shaped like the state of Oklahoma to educate the grassroots and raise awareness of the importance of ballot initiative rights. You can follow their tour at LetOklahomaVote.com.
