A group of Napans aiming to give city residents the power to reject future housing developments in the city’s rural outskirts say they are a few hundred signatures away from qualifying their initiative for the ballot, but some people are questioning their methods.  A handful of locals living near a bucolic area south of Imola Avenue between Foster Road and Golden Gate Drive filed the so-called “Right to Vote” initiative with the city in May.

A ballot initiative giving voters a say in Napa County groundwater use may come to the ballot later this year, threatening to derail the 2,580-home development proposed at the former Napa Pipe site. Upvalley vintners Volker Eisele and Dario Sattui, along with former Napa County Supervisor Mel Varrelman, filed paperwork with the Napa County elections office Tuesday to start gathering signatures for a ballot measure that would force the south county project to a vote of the people.
