Connecticut U.S. Senate candidate John Mertens has received the endorsements of two different non-partisan organizations. The Connecticut Citizens for Ballot Initiative, a non-partisan grass roots organization dedicated to bringing Initiative and Referendum to Connecticut, issued a press release today announcing the endorsement.
Former independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader has endorsed a national ballot initiative process in a recent video.

Rand has said that he will work to improve ballot-access laws at the Federal level, like his father.
Ralph Nader’s 2004 Hawaii ballot access case has been in the 9th Circuit Court since last year. The chief issue is whether it is constitutional for Hawaii to require six times as many signatures for an independent presidential candidate as for an entire new party.
The Peace and Freedom Party has announced its opposition to all six propositions that will appear on the May 19 ballot. The special election will only feature measures related to the state’s budget.
