Initiative Petition Reform bills get recognition for Oklahoma lawmakers
The Virginia-based group Citizens in Charge has given an award this month to Oklahoma Senator Randy Brogdon (R-Owasso) and Representative Randy Terrill (R-Moore) for two bills and a resolution aimed at making Oklahoma’s initiative petition laws less onerous.
OFRG fully supports Senate Bill 852 and House Bill 2246 which increase the amount of time to gather signatures from 90-days to one year and move the legal challenges to a petitions title or gist statement to the beginning of the process instead of the end. That means time and money won’t be wasted on getting signatures for a petition later thrown out on a technicality brought up by opponents of the petition….
