Issues You Are Passionate About

Mon, Jun 21 2010 by Staff

Pick an issue you’re passionate about, it could any issue really…and now imagine that issue is going nowhere. It is stuck in a state legislature, a city council, or even Congress. You and thousands like you are still passionate about it, and you want to see movement on that issue….you want it resolved.

Let’s take for example illegal immigration. It doesn’t really matter what side you’re on, the issue has raised passions on both sides. Well guess what? Immigration reform is pretty much stuck in Congress for the time being, and except for the Arizona Legislature not much else seems to be going on with the issue at a national level. So, what’s the best way to get your issue resolved, to get an up or down vote? Ballot initiatives.

A town in Nebraska is taking the issue to the voters today where they will vote whether or not to bar hiring and renting of property to illegal immigrants.

To learn more about citizen rights and how you can use them consider coming to San Francisco with us next month for the U.S. Conference on Initiative & Referendum. We have tons of great speakers lined up to speak about the process and why it is so important. For more info visit the conference website. See you there!
