Bang for Your Buck
Apparently a new record was set for spending on an initiative in Washington State recently. The American Beverage Association has plopped down over $14 million to try and overturn a soda tax passed by the State Legislature.
Common sense might suggest that spending that much money on an initiative would result in you winning quite easily. A current poll has 42% opposed to the tax and 34% in support.
So does spending tons of money always guarantee a win? Certainly not.
Check out the first installment of our report on money in the initiative process to read more about who spends money on initiatives and who wins.
