(PHOENIX, AZ) –  Citizens in Charge, a national voter rights group focused on protecting the ballot initiative and referendum process, today blasted Proposition 109 as “a sneaky power grab” taking away the initiative rights of Arizona voters as the group’s president, Paul Jacob, travels across Arizona this week urging voters to reject the measure on this November’s ballot.

The West Virginia Watchdog has a writeup today on the results of a poll conducted in the state on voter support for initiative & referendum. The poll was commissioned by Citizens in Charge and Citizens in Charge Foundation.

Voters in every state support initiative & referendum by a greater than 2 to 1 margin and West Virginia is no different.

For those of you who might be in the Los Angeles area, Robert Stern, President of the Center for Governmental Studies will be hosting an informational review of what’s on the ballot this November.

This summer Citizens in Charge and Citizens in Charge Foundation commissioned a poll in each state to determine voter support for statewide initiative & referendum.

In each state, voters supported initiative & referendum by a 2:1 ratio or greater.

Citizens in Charge President Paul Jacob’s Townhall column yesterday talks about what’s on the ballot around the country this November:

Two people are under indictment on a total of eight charges of petition fraud following action last week by Oregon’s Secretary of State. One individual is accused of forging the signatures of six deceased voters Another person is accused of signing a statement saying he collected signatures that were actually collected by a person who was not authorized to collect signatures.

Earlier this year, Brandon Holmes and I traveled to Big Spring, TX to talk with folks there whose citizen rights were being violated. The city council held an illegal meeting in order to stifle their citizen initiative.

A settlement was eventually reached after citizens filed a lawsuit over the matter.

Citizens in Charge President Paul Jacob has a Letter to the Editor published in today’s Wichita Eagle to dispel some myths about the initiative process that have been put forward by some in Kansas:
