Amanda Kathryn Roman
Amanda Kathryn Roman is the Executive Director of Citizens in Charge.
Roman is a highly effective grassroots coalition operative and non-profit organization manager. After nearly a decade of work in the political campaign and community based non-profit world, Amanda was tapped to join Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) as their State Coalitions Manager. Roman held full responsibility for setting up, developing, and managing coalition meetings comprised of market-oriented think tanks, activist groups, corporate representatives, issue-oriented organizations, and selected government officials. She launched these center-right coalition meetings in over 40 states as well as managed the State Legislative Advisory Project involving legislators nationwide.
In 2005, she was called on to head up the College Republican National Committee as Executive Director. In her role as ED, Roman directed all activities for the section 527 political organization with over a quarter of a million members and 1,850+ chapters. Amanda then moved on to become the Director of Policy Development for Reason Foundation where she directed marketing strategies for the public policy work produced by staff. She also served as the project director for Reason’s government transparency project and was a key advocate for the Bob Galvin Mobility Project to End Congestion.
Roman’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, New York Post, The San Francisco Examiner, The Wall Street Journal, The Cincinnati Enquirer, New York Press, The Washington Times, Fox News Online, Drudge Report and Wonkette.
Amanda has an active interest in the freedom movement abroad and is a member of the National Italian American Foundation’s Young Professional Council. Additionally, she was selected to participate in the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Study Tour on Trans-Atlantic Relations through Germany for Young American Political Professionals. Furthermore, Roman led a training mission focused on building political organizations and developing strategies for advancing public policy for the non-partisan International Republican Institute to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Roman has been recognized as a Campaigns and Elections magazine Rising Star and was the first recipient of the Amanda Hydro Award (Roman’s maiden name) in 1999 which is now awarded annually to a young person in Somerset County, NJ for outstanding leadership and community service. Amanda earned her BA in Politics from The Catholic University of America.
Having recently moved to the west coast to provide an active presence for Citizens in Charge, Amanda lives in Nevada City, California with her husband Dave and their two four-legged boys: Yogi and Boo-Boo.
